I’m Manzanita, a researcher and analyst with a focus on civic engagement and civil society.
I look at the world through a fundamentally map-based lens, and produce research on policy, technology, human advancement, and physical and mental health.
I completed my undergraduate education at American University in Washington, D.C., and interned at several think tanks during my time there. While I believe the D.C. experience opened many doors and was an instrumental part of my life, soon after my graduation I moved to Washington State, and relocated to a small and peaceful town to the north of Seattle. I work closely with individuals in Northern Virginia on a variety of research projects that span the nation.
I have worked closely with nonprofit, and commercial organizations and served as a primary data scientist for political action committees supporting Presidential and Congressional candidates as well as state and local candidates.
Other projects I’ve led include First Generation Asian and Hispanic American segmentation and mapping using Esri ArcGis technology, Generation Z polling design and quantitative and qualitative survey analysis, and mobile device data aggregation using Mobilewalla technology.
My belief is that despite our flaws as a nation, the original American principles of individual rights, scientific inquisition, and leadership through example – as opposed to dictatorship through forceful intervention – are valuable and worth protecting for future citizens.
